At Alcea, we recognize that your family is like no other. We give our utmost attention to every detail of your inclusive surrogacy experience, which is why we are decidedly different in all we do.
-
Let's talk. Alcea invites all clients to a complimentary consultation. You'll have the opportunity to learn about our many customizable program options and choose the one that best aligns with your family-building goals. we will provide a detailed process based on your criteria, goals, and preferences. Unlike other surrogacy agencies, Alcea will not execute an exclusivity agreement until you have chosen a surrogate. No mandatory upfront deposits: just our commitment to finding the surrogate who is right for you.
-
Alcea pre-screens every surrogate before presenting them to you. Our upfront screening process demonstrates Alcea's commitment to quality matches, even for the most discerning intended parents.
Once a surrogate meets your matching criteria, the Alcea team will send you the surrogate's profile to review. When you choose to move forward with a surrogate, Alcea will schedule an introduction via video chat and If all parties agree to match the magical process of a third-party reproduction begins!
-
Alcea will partner with you to open and fund an escrow account, after we have made a gestational carrier match. Your first escrow deposit confirms your commitment to move forward and covers the costs associated with the medical approval of your gestational carrier.
An escrow agent is responsible for disbursing funds for payments associated with the surrogacy arrangements, including those between you and your surrogate, and between you and Alcea.
Expenses, fees, and bills are paid based upon the terms agreed to in your Gestational Carrier Contract (GSA) or your approval (if not already determined).
-
After matching and opening of escrow, Alcea will partner with your IVF clinic to coordinate medical screening. Your Alcea clinic coordinator will handle all details for the standard in-person screening of your potential surrogate.
-
While waiting for clinic clearance, Alcea will coordinate with the intended parent's legal counsel, proactively providing the agreed-upon terms of a 'match sheet' discussed while in the matching phase.
Once the clinic provides clearance of your chosen career, The Gestational Carrier Contract (GSA), which incorporates all agreed-upon terms, will be reviewed with intended parents and surrogate, and their respective, separate counsel.
After the GSA is finalized and signed by all parties, the escrow account will need to be funded with the predetermined amount. Alcea will then coordinate the details of the IVF cycle and embryo transfer.
-
Alcea will coordinate with your surrogate, who will have weekly blood work and bi-weekly ultrasound monitoring performed at a local facility for about four weeks prior to the embryo transfer.
The surrogate will then travel to the fertility clinic for final testing to confirm the carrier’s uterus is ready for embryo transfer, after which your surrogate will typically relax in a nearby hotel for a 24-hour bed rest post-transfer.
You can also count on us to thoroughly pamper your surrogate at every stage from gestation to post-partum.
Empathy and personal understanding during this process is just one more way Alcea is decidedly different. Add to that a team of support partners who are always one step ahead, and you have a win-win for all parties involved.
-
Weekly monitoring will continue at your surrogates monitoring clinic. Once pregnancy is confirmed, fertility doctors will slowly discontinue the surrogate's medications so the pregnancy can process naturally.
Once the heartbeat has been confirmed via ultrasound, the surrogate will be transferred to the care of their OBGYN, around week 12 of pregnancy. Alcea ensures your newly pregnant surrogate is pampered with the first of nine 'bump boxes' - filled with locally sourced and pregnancy-friendly goodies and services. Our social worker will continually check in with everyone.
When the surrogate is between 16- and 20-weeks-pregnant, your legal team will initiate the documents required for the birth order/parentage process.
-
Prior to the delivery, Alcea will coordinate with the hospital to ensure they are familiar with the nuances of a surrogate delivery. Alcea will support IP and carrier alike throughout the labor, delivery, and post-partum processes.
The escrow account must remain open for 12 months post-birth in order to collect and pay all medical bills associated with the pregnancy. After the surrogate’s expenses are finalized and all bills paid, the account will be closed. You will be issued a check for any remaining funds.
